Depending on the etiology, the ulcer can be mechanical, chemical, vascular, neuropathic, infectious or neoplastic.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has been used for the treatment of chronic ulcers for some time.

The plasma is obtained from autologous concentrates of the patient’s own platelets, these are activated by drugs, thus, growth factors are released in the cells, substances that stimulate and promote healing, by bringing in new cells that promote re-epithelialization, interacting with other cells called macrophages favoring tissue healing and regeneration.

This photo belongs to a 50-year-old patient who consulted me for a varicose ulcer of 2 years evolution, she underwent PRP plasma therapies for 3 months with definitive closure of the ulcer.
